Resident Sound Engineer/Designer

Barter Theatre (founded 1933) - a year-round AEA LORT resident repertory company of theatre artists located in historic Abingdon, Virginia, is accepting resumes for a full-time Resident Sound Engineer/Designer.

The Resident Sound Engineer/Designer is responsible for the management of all responsibilities of the sound department at Barter Theatre including all in-house sound designs for both theatres, oversight of the sound budgets, management of the Sound Assistant, supervision of all sound run crews, as well as setting up and maintaining all sound equipment needed for all shows and rehearsals. Experience in projections is also helpful.

Historic Barter Theatre offers a wide variety of productions including world premieres, developing new works, musicals, and classics in two newly renovated theatre spaces. We value a collaborative work environment.
