CalArts, an institution of higher learning recognized as a national leader in art, dance, film/video, music, theater, and critical studies education seeks a Production/Operations Manager/Associate Producer of Special Projects in our School of Dance. This full-time position reports to the Dean of the School of Dance and will have extensive engagement with the School of Dance faculty, staff and Institute administration. This position plays a key role in the management of day-to-day operations and production activities in the School of Dance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(include but are not limited to):

Manage day-to-day operation of the Dance School including the maintenance and upkeep of office, studio, theater and storage spaces

Manage Dance School production budget.

Act as Producer of all Dance School concerts/productions, coordinating all aspects of the production (costumes, technical, front of house etc.)

Oversee and manage the dance accompanists schedule and compensation.

Assist in the purchasing of capitol equipment and supplies for facilities in association with the Dean

Responsible for Dance School concert publicity

Help maintain and edit the School of Dance web page and blogs

Coordinate travel arrangement, and other aspects of guest artist visits

Help edit the Student Handbook

Build strong working relationships with all members of dance faculty, staff and the CalArts community

SKILLS:

Working knowledge of performing arts production (theatrical-dance) contingencies

Proven administrative, organization and time management skills

Excellent verbal and written skills

Computer skills

ABILITIES:

Speak and write clearly about contemporary arts

Communicate effectively with deans, faculty, staff, program directors, admissions personnel, prospective students, parents and visitors

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise discretion and be diplomatic

Ability to travel within greater Los Angeles County

Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to oversee production of various School of Dance functions, conduct on-campus auditions or attend Alumni Relation events (as needed)

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

5 years performing arts production experience

Intermediate to Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the arts
