The Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts in Columbia, MD is looking for an Assistant TD/Technician.

IF YOU ARE NOT:
•local and intend to be in the area for a while
•extremely reliable and responsible with impeccable references
•interested in being trained on (if you have no prior experience with) a Whole Hog 3 lighting console
•available and interested in working weekends, nights, some holidays; we schedule six months out for the majority of our performances
•experienced with or knowledgeable about a wide variety of theatre-related arts such as sound systems, theatrical lighting, and rigging or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Live audio and mixing experience is required.
•able to pass a fingerprint screening/cleared to work with young adults

II. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•Work with the Theater Manager and Technical Director to provide technical support for JRT rental events and school events if necessary
•Assume technical and supervisory duties in the absence of the Technical Director
•Attend production meetings related to future events if applicable
•Supervise technicians as required in support of rental events
•Coordinate the use of sound systems and consoles, focus light plots and consoles, setup and staging requirements as required; notify the Technical Director of any equipment malfunctions, safety violations and improper use of equipment by stagehands or users
•Strong troubleshooting skills
•Physically capable of lifting 75 lbs. comfortably; comfortable on catwalks and ladders

Knowledge of:
•High End Systems Whole Hog 3 lighting console
•Yamaha 02R96v2 audio console
•General knowledge of all major systems in the theatre including lighting, sound, communications, video, staging, rigging, special effects and multipurpose facility equipment
•Familiarity with Windows XP, HogPC, Mac OSX, VectorWorks, iTunes, GarageBand and AudioDesk
•Theater industry safety, rules and regulations
•Basic building electrical systems and theatrical electrical practices
