Troy University Department of Speech and Theatre invites applicants with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills for an Assistant Technical Director of Theatre/Scene Shop Supervisor at the Instructor level. Duties include assisting Designer/TD in supervision, coordination and execution of all set construction with student staff assistants and crew. The ATD will supervise scenery, properties, and the daily operations of the scene construction shop. ATD will monitor quality control and project construction timeliness, maintenance of tools and equipment. The successful candidate will have an MFA in technical production and/or scene design with a strong background in scenery construction and painting. Design possibilities may be available, depending on qualifications. Candidate must have excellent skills in organization, safety, carpentry, time management, communication and teamwork with broad production background and strong engineering, management, and budgeting skills. Computer skills needed are AutoCAD or Vectorworks, Excel, and Windows XP and Office. Additional responsibilities may include university committee assignments and advising students. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, production, and a strong concern for students. Teaching duties will include general studies Introduction to Theatre, Technical Theatre, and Stagecraft Lab.
