STAFF POSITION VACANCY POSITION NUMBER 6088-1101-0000-249 LISTING DATE 08/25/06 CLOSING DATE Until Filled CLASSIFICATION TITLE Assistant Professor SALARY RANGE Commensurate with Education and Experience DESCRIPTION OF WORK Teach various theatre courses & basic public speaking course. Ability to manage a 206-seat black-box auditorium, scene, prop, lighting, & costume design for two plays per semester. Supervise scene shop, light booth & storage areas, and be responsible for all set construction. Assist with scenery, lighting & technical needs for other campus events, supervise student technical crews, coordinate safety during production set-up & activity, willing to work evenings/weekends. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS MFA or PhD in Theatre; ability to work with & organize students, & collaborate with faculty; knowledge of lighting design, as well as basic knowledge of sound equipment & operation preferred. Must be able to move/lift heavy scenery & be able to work on catwalks and ladders; at least 18 graduate hours in Speech or Communication; experience in technical theatre; ability to keep accurate records & process purchase orders. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of professional and or university theatre experience in technical direction, scenery/lighting design, and shop management. Skills in facilitating student achievement, and time management. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse community, in addition to working independent as well as collaboratively.
