Title: House Management Intern Employer: The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College Location: Purchase, New York Timeframe: Fall Term 2006 Employer: House Management acquires information, positions resources- human and material, and carries out duties of a variety of events in fast paced, multi-theater venue on college campus. Description: As House Management Intern, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: · Participation in the day-to-day operations of the House Department. · Assistance in managing team of 60 student ushers, including scheduling, hiring, and payroll. · Research, Create, and Train Employees for the Implementation of a facility tour program or Front of House Information Packet to assist future facility users and renters. · Host rental and University events This is a paid internship and is being offered for 4 credits. The workweek will generally be 20 hours per week. Desired Skills: · An appreciation of theater · Seeking a professional life in the arts · Interested in being a part of a fast paced busy facility · Well organized · Good communication skills/ customer service oriented · Able to focus on several projects and multi task effectively · Ability to work on own · Able to maintain sensitivity to the demands and complexities of an artistic operation · Literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word. Benefits: · A weekly stipend of $200 · A letter of recommendation upon successful completion of tenure. · Invaluable experience · A self-directed and completely self-contained project to take for intern's portfolio.
