CITY OF LANCASTER Invites Applications for Temporary Part-Time Employment For: STAGE ASSISTANT INTERN The Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) is located in the Antelope Valley, and is owned and operated by the City of Lancaster. LPAC consists of a 758 seat main stage proscenium theatre and the 110 seat J. P. Eliopulos Family Theatre. LPAC presents over 200 performances annually of musicals, comedy, Country, Bluegrass, Celtic, Rock, Ballet, Modern dance, Symphony, Choral productions and produces in-house productions in July and December, along with working outdoor venues in April, July, August and October. The Position: The Stage Assistant Intern performs all duties under the supervision of the Technical Director, Stage Assistant II and/or I. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following: assist in the hang, gel, cable and focus stage lights; hanging of scenery and soft goods; set up microphones, monitors and run microphone and monitor cable; operate follow spot, load in and set up of scenery, lights, and sound; operate counterweight system; assist with scene changes and audio changes; clean, steam and repair costumes; unload and load trucks; maintain and clean all technical theatre areas and equipment. Must be available to work evenings, week ends and holidays. Qualifications: A Stage Assistant Intern must: be reliable and responsible; be able to work under supervision, and to plan, organize and implement technical theatre tasks. Candidates must have at least one year prior stage hand experience in the performing arts, or have taken High School level Stage Craft/Lighting/Sound classes, or possess experience and knowledge equal to the class work. Abilities and Knowledge: This position requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions and to work well with people. Salary: $6.44 – 7.11/hour Hours: Hours vary depending on season from 0 - 40 hrs/week
